NEW Newsletter - Tasty Tuesdays! Meet our Nutritionist
Hello! My name is Alexis Hopkins and I am the Nutrition Coach here at Sequoia Fitness. We are starting an ongoing newsletter to help you learn more about nutrition and give you the best information to improve your health. Before we get into the details, I wanted to start by introducing myself, in case we have not met in person!
I’m originally from Southern California, but have spent the last 8 years living all over the Pacific Northwest. My love for wellness and nutrition started when I began my career in healthcare as a nursing student. I loved the patients I worked with, but was eventually pulled towards helping people long before it got to the point where they needed hospital care. My passion for nutrition grew as I realized the connective power and universal impact food has on our everyday lives. We all strive for health in every aspect of our lives, but food is something we will always need, making nutrition one of the most vital areas of health.
I didn’t grow up cooking elaborate meals - I was actually uncomfortable in the kitchen for many years. I experienced the daily hurries that lead to poor eating habits and often thought about how I could be better but even more often, didn’t choose to do anything about it. It wasn’t until I discovered the full capability food had to boost so many aspects of my life, that my love for nutrition (and eventually cooking + good eating) became a love that I am now always so excited to share with others. We each have our own struggles and ways we can improve with food. However, it starts with the small choices we make daily that create long-lasting, life-giving change.
So, this is what you can expect - these weekly newsletters will equip you with specific information so you can be confident in what’s best for your body and your health. I hope shedding light on nutrition topics as well as giving ideas on how to improve your regular meals will carry out into your ongoing food habits and the rest of your life!
Once you’re ready for more, we can sit down and make the most of what your personal nutrition looks like and help you get to your ultimate goals. But for now, enjoy your week and I’ll be back next week for another Tasty Tuesday Newsletter!
